Meet the Bee Board!

Emma Acri is a senior in CALS, double majoring in Environment and Sustainability (with a concentration in marine and freshwater biology) and Communication. Her love for bees started in her freshman year of high school after doing a research project on the importance of native plants and native bees. Her favorite bee is, of course, the bumble bee! 

Daniel Sorokin is a senior in CIS, majoring in Computer Science. He joined the Bee Club during his first semester. His journey with beekeeping began in his freshman year of high school over COVID, quickly escalating into a fervent passion. Daniel has gained extensive experience through working at an apiary, maintaining hives at home, and teaching a high school class on beekeeping. He is enthusiastic about introducing others to the fascinating world of beekeeping and warmly invites everyone to join the Bee Club!

Jocelyn Nashtatik is a junior in CALS, majoring in Animal Science, and is from Long Island, NY. Fun fact: her favorite bee is the bumblebee! She has been passionate about bees since high school, and as former president of her high school's environmental club, she made bee conservation a main focus! She can't wait for this semester's events!

Elijah Martinez is a pre-vet senior in CALS, majoring in Animal Science and minoring in Horticulture. He was first introduced to gardening at a very young age by his grandma, so he has grown up around bees and always appreciated their hard work (and has yet to be stung)! He is really excited to be a part of Beeboard and all the events!

Corbin Breeden is a junior in CALS, majoring in Environment & Sustainability, and is from California. He became interested in bees after helping out with some beekeeping at home. He was excited to join the Bee Club after a fun adventure with the Bee Club to a local honey house. He can't wait to share the awesomeness of bees with everyone!

Elias is a sophomore in the College of Engineering. He joined Bee Club to deepen his interest in bees and environmental sustainability and to gain hands-on experience with the student hives. His beekeeping background includes a full year with Astor Apiaries, a summer with City Growers, and two years with the Hudson River Apiary Society. He has also participated in research with Rutgers WINLAB and the Cornell CEI Lab!

Olivia Yang is a sophomore in CALS, majoring in Biological Sciences, and is from Chapel Hill, NC. In high school, she started raising her own beehives and helping maintain her school's beehives. She is excited to continue learning about bees and contributing to the beekeeping community through Bee Club!  

Luca Zgurzynski is a pre-vet sophomore in CALS, majoring in Animal Science, and is from Pittsburgh, PA. On his family's farm, he helps maintain over 20 bee hives including his own. The honey produced from these hives is sold locally throughout Luca's community. He is super excited to be apart of the steering committee, and is excited to spread bee awareness around campus!

Solomon is a sophomore in CALS, majoring in Environment and Sustainability, and is from NYC. He joined Bee Club because of his love for honey making and learning more about bees. His favorite bees are sweat bees!
